CA State Alert (AB 1263 - SB 704) **Update 7/20/2026**
Since passage and implementation of California Assembly Bill 1263 (AB 1263) and Senate Bill 704 (SB 704), effective January 1, 2026, non-licensed (does not possess a FFL) California residents must complete additional steps before their barrel-only, AR upper receiver group, or certain firearm accessories order can ship.
AB 1263 now requires proof of age and identity verification for certain "Firearm Accessories" and Firearm Barrels.
SB 704 requires all Firearm Barrels, not attached to a Firearm, to be shipped to a FFL to complete in-person delivery/transfer. (Background check requirements begin July 1, 2027.)
[If you are a FFL dealer in California that has a Dealer Account with Shaw Barrels, these additional steps do NOT apply to you. We will not require any information about your customer in order to fulfill your Dealer Account order.]
- Non-licensed residents, Create or Log In to your customer account and place your order as you normally would. (Best practice is to ensure your account addresses match what is on your California Driver's License. Discrepancies may exacerbate processing delays.)
- Once your order is placed and you have your Order ID, follow the link in your confirmation message, or click here to the form on our Contact page titled "California Resident Barrel Purchase - Customer Form" to upload a copy of your California Driver's License.
- The FFL dealer that will be accepting the shipment must navigate here to the form on our Contact page titled "California Resident Barrel Purchase - FFL Upload Form" to upload a copy of their FFL. They will need to referrence your Name and/or Order ID!
As a resident of California, it is your responsibility to be aware of all laws (past, present, and future) that affect your ability to purchase, own, or manufacture firearms, firearms parts, and firearm accessories.
Shaw Barrels reserves the right to hold California orders for extended processing periods until all legal requirements are met.
Orders from non-licensed California residents with California billing addresses cannot ship to a different state!
